Barbuckle is a veteran gamer and streamer with a love for gritty storytelling, chaotic humor, and a dash of telenovela flair. While he hadn’t yet officially selected a graphic artist when I began working on concepts for his brand, I had the chance to explore what a tailored visual identity might look like for him. What followed was a dynamic, collaborative process grounded in experimentation, aesthetic alignment, and a healthy dose of noir energy.
The Vision
From the start, Barbuckle made it clear he wanted something that fused his sharp humor and dramatic vibe with an approachable—but slightly unhinged—presence. Think: noir detective meets chaotic good internet gremlin. We talked about his love of games like Hylics, REPO, and Thank Goodness You’re Here, and I drew inspiration from both his current Twitch aesthetic and his storytelling voice.
The Process
We started by exploring a few initial styles, focusing on a fox motif that could balance grit with charm. One early iteration (shown below) featured a sepia-toned, stylized fox with subtle distressing and vintage flair. This version leaned into his “noir poster child” energy, using minimal color for a more mysterious vibe.
From there, we dialed up the contrast, refined the shape for cleaner vector use, and played with alternate styles including mugshot compositions and vivid highlights. Each version brought us closer to a logo that reflected not just a streamer, but a character—Barbuckle himself!
Where We Are Now
The design process is ongoing, with new concepts continuing to emerge as Barbuckle refines his brand direction. This project is a great example of the creative flexibility I bring to client work—I don’t just deliver a logo, I help shape a story. Whether it’s gritty, goofy, or gorgeously weird, I’m always down to explore where visual identity meets personal expression.
